2005 Oops Carmenere Merlot Valle Central Chile

Score 4/10
Price(My price) $10($8)

Deep purple-red color.

Blueberries and blackberries flavor with a bit of leather and soil.
Pretty soft and smooth. No strong impression afterwards....

This was my first bottle of wine I bought after I moved to Virginia.
In Target, where I finished most of my start-up shopping, I found a shelf dedicated to wine unexpectedly. As a momento for my arrival in Virginia, I picked a bottle with the most catchy name 'Oops'. I'm always good at finding excuses to buy bottles of wine. Still, at that time, I may have been feeling 'Oops' for starting everything in an unfamiliar area again.

I had a very low expectation for this wine as you could imagine because of its name as well as the shop where I bought it. I'm not criticizing this particular supermarket; just in general, I don't buy wine in the supermarkets.

I thought the winery named this wine just for fun, but it seems that there is a good reason behind the name. Accoring to a website, "Carmenere was planted in Chile and for years it was assumed to be Merlot. People wondered why Chilean "Merlot" tasted different, and the investigated and, "oops", they discovered that they had planted this little known French Bordeaux grape. ".... what do you think?
