2004 Chateau Teyssier

2004 Chateau Teyssier Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Score 6.5/10
Price (My price) $20($20)

Very deep red with slight purple.
Strong attack, flavor of plum and a bit of blackberries. Elegant finish, but still some kind of spiciness remains for some seconds.

I've known this wine for a coule of years, at least. My fiance found this wine while he lived in London. And then, he found it again at Enoteca, which is probably the most successful upscale wine shop chains in Japan, with different vintages. (Sorry Ryota if my memory isn't accurate:) He liked the vintage 2000 best. I also enjoyed 2000, together with 2001 and 2002. Actually thanks to Enoteca, Chateau Teyssier is pretty well-know among wine-lovers in Japan, I guess.

I found the 2004 vintage at Costco, surprisingly (I thought most of the bottles are shipped to Enoteca, Japan!). Although $20 wasn't at that good price, I bought it because of my memory with Ryota.

The winemaker of Chateau Teyssier thinks 2004 is typical Bordeaux wine, compared with the 2003 and 2005 vintage. I can't comment on that because I haven't tried either of them. However, at least I felt that this vintage has more typical flavor of merlot, compared with the other vintages I've tasted previously. I know I drank it too early... but also I know I can buy the bottle if I want to!

85% (82%) Merlot and 15% (18%) Cabernet Franc
